May 24, 2017 - Sometimes Firefox browser hangs on macOS. Is there an equivalent of Ctrl + Alt + Delete keyboard shortcut to kill frozen apps on Apple macOS. Ctrl-Alt Delete: An Origin Story. Many people think Ctrl-Alt-Delete started with Windows. Truth is it didn’t. Bill Gates adopted the shortcut from IBM. Early IBM computers utilized the keyboard shortcut to soft reboot devices. That being said, Gates has said it was a mistake and that he would’ve preferred a single button.
Hi Brian, The delete key in an Apple Keyboard is actually the Windows Backspace Key. In other words, the key marked 'Delete' on a Mac is what a Windows user would call a backspace key - it deletes the last item before the cursor, not what's in front of it as in Windows. It does not substitute for the DEL key on a Windows machine. I would suggest you to try the following methods. Method 1: Press Ctrl + Alt + Esc keys to bring up task manager. See if it works both when you’re in Windows or at the windows logon screen.
Method 2: Use the 'Apple' key & U at the 'ctrl, alt & del' prompt This will open a window with the visually challenged tools, turn on the 'on screen keyboard', you can then select ctrl, alt & Del with the mouse. Hope this information is helpful and let me know if you need any further assistance.
